Civic Pride : Civic Shame
To mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Society organised a photographic competition on the theme Civic Pride : Civic Shame, inviting people to capture in photographs those parts of the city they loved and felt a sense of pride in, and those they disliked or felt ashamed of. The 37 entries received were judged by:
Sue Ashworth of Lancashire Museums Service:
Louise Bryning, press and marketing officer at The Dukes;
Mike Quinton of Lancaster Civic Society;
Reg Stodden of Robertson’s Photographic.
The interpretation of the competition’s theme, as well as the technical merit of the photographs, were taken into consideration.
