Civic Day 25th June
Lancaster Civic Society marked Civic Day on Saturday 25th June by leading guided walks around Lancaster town centre to raise awareness of the built environment. Entitled “So you think you know Lancaster?”, the walks, led by members of the Society with varying specialist interests, endeavoured to show aspects of the city of which residents may have been unaware and architectural features they may never previously have noticed.

It is more than a shame. Lancaster’s failure to capitalise on its cultural heritage costs it dear in job opportunities and prosperity. For the Civic Society website I accept responsibility and can only say in my defence that I am a volunteer (as we all are in the Civic Society). But there are others who are culpable in this wider failure and they are not volunteers.
Thanks for your post, I hope others will follow with more comment.

It’s now the Sunday afternoon of Heritage Weekend, and this website still hasn’t been updated to give potential visitors the vaguest hint about which buildings or buildings have been opened by the Society this year.
What a shame.
Yes, the Civic Society will be part of the Heritage Open Days, but we seek to have a different building, or buildings, opened each year. So this year we will not be re-visiting the Railway Station.
Hi
Can you please inform me if the Civic Society are part of the Heritage Open Days this year 2011 and touring Lancaster Railway Station.
